Week 12: Atmosphere
One of my favorite things this month, thanks to Sarah B, is the Positive Hip Hop station on Pandora. Not only is it:
A) Great to turn up loud when you’re getting ready to go out for the night, it’s also
B) Awesome for a long run and even more,
C) Freaking great to rediscover old hip hop you loved a long time ago, while still
D) Finding some new artists, like Atmosphere.
I think I had heard of Atmosphere before. A little more melody and instrumental background keeps him from channeling too much Eminem. His songs all do have great catchiness, maybe it’s because you can understand him. Maybe it’s just the bass. I don’t know; but this song “Yesterday” was added to my “To Download” list this weekend. Some of his other songs edge on vulgarity (what else do you expect with hip hop, c’mon); but there are some other gems on the “When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold.” You can’t make this stuff up.
